Movie: The Chumscrubber

October 5, 2006

The Chumscrubber is a must see movie for any parent.  This movie takes a serious look at parental apathy and other social aspects in upper middle class neighborhoods.  Many aspects of modern life are examined in this movie.  This movie is sobering with all that it examines, but well worth watching.  It is a great conversation starter for some serious discussions among parents, and should be discussed with teenagers and their parents too.  Personally, I think it should be a required view for every parent, but that might be just me.  Many have belittled the movie, but I think they were evaluating the movie based on entertainment value.  The movie is not entertaining – it is more of a slam on modern parenting, over medicated children, and social apathy in general!

Quote 2

From Marine Corps Chaplain Father Dennis O'Brien: "It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag." found on: www.robreider.com
