The Lost Squadron

I remember a friend of mine, Alan, and I talking about this one day at work a few years ago.  I found an ad for this website in Warbird Digest, where there is an article on Glacier Girl, a P-38 Lightning that was dug out the ice and restored.  This is a remarkable recovery and restoration project.  There were 12 missions between 1977 and 1992 that took place trying to recover a plane from this squadron from over 250 feet of ice.  The website has all the details, the history and pictures of the recovery and restoration.

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." Mark Twain

Quote 2

From Marine Corps Chaplain Father Dennis O'Brien: "It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag." found on:
