Air Racing: 9/21/06

Here’s a good thread that gives some history of races gone by.  Some interesting stuff in here like pictures of a wrecked T-6, old ramp stories, practical jokes, stories of SR-71 fly-by’s (would have like to have seen that!), etc.  It’s eleven pages, so you’ll need about ten minutes to read it.  Some great pictures of Lefty Gardner down low in the P-38 too!

The guys on AAFO can dig some good stuff out.  Watch this video.  The pilot, Tex Johnston, ROLLS a 707!

Here’s a picture of Strega with a cylinder out, and of the champion, September Fury, with some damage.

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." Mark Twain

Quote 2

From Marine Corps Chaplain Father Dennis O'Brien: "It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag." found on:
