Mandatory retirement for pilots

There been a lot of discussion, commentary and debate about mandatory retirement for pilots.  I’m not a pilot.  I can relate to both sides of the story, but I think the quote from Robert “Hoot” Gibson in this post on Pilot News sums it up quite well.  “It’s funny I can race in the Reno air races at 60 feet off the ground with eight other airplanes going 435 miles an hour, but I can’t fly an airliner anymore. But that’s the way the rules work. And that’s the way it is'” said Captain Robert “Hoot” Gibson. There are many good points on the post above representing both sides of the story.

Quote 2

From Marine Corps Chaplain Father Dennis O'Brien: "It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag." found on: www.robreider.com
