Does the name of the company make a difference?
I read this article from Business Week this morning. Cingular will be changing its name back to AT&T apparently. My first reaction was “Oh Geez, here we go again!” But as I thought abut it more, I thought, do I really care about the name? It will be the same service. I’ll keep the same phone number. I don’t know – I find all this confusing at times. I had a post a week or so ago about all the banks that merge and name changes, etc. Does this help a company’s image or hurt it? Does customer service suffer from all this? When your local branch, or store closes, how much further do you have to travel?
