Reno Air Races: Sunday (last day)

The most important thing: today ended safely also.  From what I’m reading the Reno Air Races had a fanstastic weekend.  There is talk of record attendance.  THAT is great news.

The three fallen pilots were honored this weekend as the races continued.  Family, friends and crew members felt this was the best way to honor the pilots we lost this week.

Rare Bear won the Unlimited Class again.  Congratulations to the team and pilot John Penney.

Photo gallery from the local newspaper (Saturday action, Sunday not posted as of this post).  I find it strange that local TV coverage is sparse.  This events brings a lot of people to Reno each year.  Strangely, the coverage isn’t there.  Apparently, if some spectactular accident doesn’t take place, they won’t cover it.  One station has pictures of the crash from Friday posted.  No emphasis on the great racing action this weekend. Instead, more emphasis on the negative.  Disappointing!

Best places to find races results are the RARA site.  Last year it took three or four weeks for their photo galleries to get posted.  So, if you want photos – go to AAFO.  Most of the people there will be posting pictures throughout the rest of the week….and it will continue until the end of the year, I’m sure!

NXT’s took 1st and 2nd in the Sports class – pretty planes.  That NXT is a sweet looking ride!

To all the pilots and crews – great job this year!  You faced a lot of adversity and still made this a great weekend.

Update:  Don’t forget the link blog, right column!

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." Mark Twain

Quote 2

From Marine Corps Chaplain Father Dennis O'Brien: "It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag." found on:
